Modern Slavery Policy

BISSH – British Institute of Skills and Simulation in Healthcare (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. This policy is made in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the “Act”) and reflects our zero-tolerance approach.

1. Our commitment

Modern slavery includes slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We are committed to:

• Acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings
• Identifying and mitigating the risk of modern slavery in our organisation and supply chains
• Encouraging the same standards from our suppliers, partners and contractors

2. Our organisation and structure

BISSH provides education and training in healthcare skills and simulation. We operate in the United Kingdom. Our workforce is employed or engaged under fair and transparent terms, and we expect the same from those we work with.

3. Our supply chains

Our supply chains include suppliers of goods and services necessary for our training, events and operations (e.g. venue, equipment, technology, professional services). We assess modern slavery risk in our supply chains and, where appropriate, we:

• Conduct due diligence on new and significant suppliers
• Include anti-slavery expectations in contracts where relevant
• Encourage reporting of concerns and act on them appropriately

4. Due diligence and risk assessment

We assess the risk of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains. Where risks are identified, we take steps to mitigate them and to ensure compliance with the Act. We keep our risk assessment under review.

5. Training and awareness

We ensure that relevant staff understand the risks of modern slavery and the content of this policy. Training and awareness are updated as needed to support compliance with the Act and best practice.

6. Reporting and whistleblowing

We encourage anyone (staff, suppliers, partners or others) to report concerns about modern slavery in our organisation or supply chains. Reports can be made via our Contact page or through internal channels. We will investigate and take appropriate action. We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises concerns in good faith.

7. Transparency statement

Where the Act requires us to publish a slavery and human trafficking statement for a financial year, we will do so and make it available on this website. This policy supports and complements that statement.

8. Review

This policy is reviewed periodically and when our structure, activities or the law change. Responsibility for the policy and for modern slavery compliance sits with senior management.
